How To: Have Healthy Skin From Within
In order to have healthy, glowing skin, having a well-rounded diet is probably one of the most important factors you need to consider. While incorporating a good skin care routine is an added benefit sometimes it can only tackle surface level problems. Certain nutrients that come from our foods help protect the skin from dehydration, loss of elasticity and sun damage.
Here are a few foods that are a great source of nutrients:
● Strawberries/Watermelon
Strawberries are rich in Vitamin C. Vitamin C is extremely important as it protects skin cells from oxidative damage and is essential for the production of collagen. Watermelon plays an important part in keeping the skin hydrated as it is made up of 90% water. When your skin is hydrated it helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
● Broccoli/Carrots
Broccoli is a good source of fiber, which helps promote a healthy gut environment. This vegetable is also known to have polyphenol antioxidants, these antioxidants help protect the skin from UV damage, provide anti-inflammatory effects and accelerate skin regeneration. Carrots are a great source of Vitamin A, this can help prevent acne breakouts, reduce wrinkles and help prevent sunburns.
● Fatty Fish/Avocados
Salmon is actually a powerhouse food that is important in the development of heart health and brain development. But it is also a great source of omega-3 fatty acids that help reduce inflammation, redness, pimples and strengthen your skin against UV rays. Avocados are rich in biotin that can help promote healthy skin and hair. Lastly, do not forget to stay hydrated, water can ensure your skin has plenty of moisture and can help your body get rid of any toxins.
