We all love when the weather is slowly starting to change, leaves falling on the ground, the cold breeze in the mornings, hot coco to keep us warm. But there’s also another thing that needs to change during the winter months. And that’s our skincare routine. Subtle changes in your routine during the winter can help your skin remain healthy and hydrated.
Here are our top five ways to change your routine:
Continue Sunscreen Use
Although you can’t feel the sun as strongly as you can during the summer don’t let it fool you the rays are still there. Sunscreen is non-negotiable, in order for you to prevent premature aging continue to reapply every two hours.
- Retinol, Retinol, Retinol
Now is the perfect time for retinol if you haven’t started already. Even if you were careful enough to protect your skin during the summer you might be seeing some sun damage or fine lines. Using retinol can help increase cell turnover and increase collagen.
- Drink More Electrolytes
To keep your skin hydrated and looking healthy on the outside, you must look inward. It’s easy to forget the cold drinks during the colder months but drinking plenty of electrolytes all year round is essential.
- Moisturize Often
With reduced humidity, remember that applying moisturizer more often is extremely beneficial. Apply after you shower while your skin is still damp to really lock in the moisture. If you have sensitive skin try to avoid anything with added fragrances that could potentially irritate your skin.
- Hydrate Your Lips
Show love to your lips, they will dry out as easily as your skin. Continue to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and apply lip balm to prevent dryness and chapped lips.
