Care Instructions
MOXI - Sciton Non-Ablative Fractional Laser Preventative Skin Health.
To help you achieve the best possible results, please follow these aftercare instructions carefully following your dermal filler treatment.
Safety & Side Effects
MOXI™ is one of the most broadly tolerated laser treatments available — cleared for use across all Fitzpatrick skin types and generally well-suited for patients who are not candidates for more aggressive resurfacing.
Common reactions Redness, warmth, and mild swelling immediately following treatment. A sandpaper-like texture (MEDs) develops within 24 hours and sheds over the following 3–5 days. Skin may appear bronzed or slightly darkened before clearing.
Rare side effects Prolonged redness, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, or paradoxical darkening of pigmented lesions — uncommon when appropriate settings are used and post-care is followed. Risk is higher when treatment is performed on recently tanned skin.
Contraindications Active skin infection, recent isotretinoin use (within 6–12 months), active tan or recent significant sun exposure, pregnancy, or certain photosensitizing medications. Darker skin types require careful parameter adjustment to minimize PIH risk.
Disclosure required Inform your provider of all medications — including retinoids and photosensitizing drugs — recent sun exposure, tanning history, history of melasma, previous laser treatments, and any known skin sensitivities.
Results develop progressively over 4–8 weeks following each treatment as cellular turnover and collagen remodeling occur. A series approach yields the most significant cumulative improvement. Individual results vary based on skin type, degree of photodamage, treatment frequency, and sun protection habits.
Typical Treatment Protocol
- Initial consultation and skin assessment — Fitzpatrick skin typing, evaluation of pigment, texture, and tone concerns, and discussion of treatment goals and frequency.
- Pre-treatment preparation — topical anaesthetic applied 30–45 minutes prior. Skin cleansed and treatment zones confirmed.
- MOXI™ handpiece delivered across the treatment area using Sciton’s intelligent delivery system. Treatment typically completed in 15–30 minutes depending on coverage area.
- Immediate post-treatment care — cooling applied to reduce initial warmth and redness. Gentle moisturizer and SPF applied before the patient departs.
- Post-care instructions provided — gentle cleanser, fragrance-free moisturizer, and strict sun avoidance for a minimum of 2 weeks. MEDs (microscopic epidermal necrotic debris) will surface and shed within 3–5 days — patients advised not to pick or exfoliate.
